In Loving Memory of

Elizabeth “Libby” Daws St. Jacques

 -

Elizabeth “Libby” Daws St. Jacques was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 18, 2017. She was born  on July 17, 1925 to George Washington Daws and Gertrude Ross Daws in Rosedale, Mississippi. She was preceded in her homecoming to Heaven by her lifelong friend and husband for 62 years Ernest Howard St. Jacques in 2008. Libby and Ernie have four children; John, Gregory, Aleta and Joel; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Libby has two surviving siblings; Charles McElwee and Nell McDiffet. Three siblings; Georgene Reed, Jane Bennett and Ann Davis preceded Libby in their passing.
Libby was a wonderful, loving, devoted and caring Mom who generously gave of herself to her children. She valued education and served as an administrative office assistant at J.J. Finley for many years. Libby and Ernie were very active members of Westside Baptist Church Gainesville since 1966. Libby loved singing in the choir, going on Mission Trips and fellowshipping with her friends in the Senior’s Ministry. “Miss Libby” was a
persistent Prayer Warrior who loved praying for the needs of family, friends and anyone she knew needed God’s help. She fearlessly shared her faith with those she encountered and lived confidently knowing that her eternal home was heaven.
A viewing celebrating her life will be located at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue from 10 AM to Noon on October 21st. Services celebrating her eternal life will be held at 3 PM at Westside Baptist Church, 10000 W. Newberry Road Gainesville FL, on Saturday October 21st. Internment will follow the service at Forest Meadows Memorial Park West on County Road 241 Jonesville FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westside Baptist Church / Missions Program.

I am the surviving sister, age 87 and could not be with Libba’s (I call her Libba) family for the celebration of her life but got to see it on live streaming. I am sure my sister would have been very pleased with the service. There is a hole in my life now but I do rejoice that she is with the Lord after 92 yrs. on this earth. She went fast as she had wanted to go. I grieve for myself. I can no longer pick up the phone and call her as I did as often as possible. I am so glad for her children who keep in touch with “Aunt Nutt” and for some of her grandchildren who write me on Facebook. This obituary paints a true picture of Libba. Me and my husband, who is also with the Lord, used to go visit she and Ernie in Florida and they always showed us a great time!!! She has “entered into the joy of the Lord” and in not too many years I will join her and be with her, my husband, our two sons, a grandson, other sisters and all who have gone on before who knew the Lord. What a day that will be!!! Libba was indeed a good and faithful servant and I will miss her so much.
