James H. Deas, 70, our beloved, of High Springs, FL, passed away on January 21, 2010. “Jimbo” was born October 27, 1939 in Rock Hill, SC. He was an amazing and loving husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. An inspiring man, he raised his children while performing jobs as a firefighter / first responder, a mechanic par excellence, and as a Deli cook at Publix. He also added the adventures of being a circuit racecar driver (pre-NASCAR), a city-league ball player, an avid boater and a fisherman. He showed us how to ride bikes, to swim and to water ski, to live life fully – and always to remain compassionate, grounded and sincere. He continued to be a source of inspiration and consultation to his family and friends throughout his life. He provided great lessons in grace, love, perseverance and bravery, most recently in his end-of-life battle with cancer.
To cherish and honor his memory, he is survived by his devoted wife and friend of 50+ years, Lynda, and her family who embraced him as “Brother” and “Son,” and have loved and respected him so for many decades. He is also survived by two brothers, Don (Nadine) and Cecil (Wanda) - and their families; his children, Robyne (Peter), Billy (Gina) and Suzanne (Bobby); his grandchildren, Heather, Vincent, Jennifer, Ashley, Bobby, Teresa, Remington, Brandon; and five great-grandchildren.
Jimmy also leaves a host of sincere and lifelong friends. He now reunites with friends and family in the realms of the ever after, whom he has clearly missed during his life here on earth. These include his parents, C. A. and Geneva Deas, his granddaughter, Michelle, and 10 loving brothers and sisters.
The Deas family offers their sincerest and most respectful gratitude to the wonderful healthcare providers at the many local facilities (labs, clinics and hospitals). They became a part of our life over the past three years. Their care provided us with blessed time in which we were allowed to draw even closer, to let “Poppa” know how dear he has been to us - and to relive our special memories together.
May our “Beloved Inspiration” find everlasting rest and peace in this next adventure, in which he leads us. We will miss actually seeing and listening to him, but his guidance and loving concern for all of us – lives on.
The family will welcome friends at the Forest Meadows Chapel, 725 NW 23d Avenue, Gainesville, FL, on January 26, 2010. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Haven Hospice in memory of James H. Deas.

Robyne, Lynda, and family,
I knew James at Ebenezer and RHHS. He was one fellow you never forget though time erases much. Based on what I have heard of his love for and devotion to family, I have joy in knowing that God has a special soul joining all the brothers and sisters in Christ. May God's love, His abundant grace, comfort you as you celebrate the life, of James.
Thanks for contacting me during this difficult period . .I count it as no coincidence, but part of God's devine providence.
Blessings. Winston Fowler
