Michael G. Ida, 67, of High Springs, FL passed away peacefully on July 9, 2010 in Gainesville, FL.
He was born on Nov. 9, 1942 in Mineville, New York to Frank and Ruth (Smith) Ida.
Mike and his wife, Virginia, owned and operated Mike’s Place, a popular restaurant in Port Henry, NY for several years. He was a well known car enthusiast and meat cutter; working at A&P and Grand Union in the Port Henry area and Hanaford and P&C after relocating to Plattsburg, NY. Most recently he was employed by Albertson’s and Publix Market Store #527 from where he retired.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Gary) Vosburg and Katherine (Thomas) Karkoski, both of Ticonderoga, NY; brothers, Frank (Joyce) Ida of High Springs and Thomas (Sharon) Ida of Moriah, NY; stepsons: Todd (Ann) Martin of Washington and Rick (Linda) Martin of Plattsburg, NY; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Raymond) Stevenson of High Springs and Ruth (Ralph) Jaquish of Moriah; uncles: Dominic and John Ida and Kenneth Smith. Mike had 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Virginia; his son, Michael Ida, Jr., step-sons: Tony Martin, Tim Martin and Bill Martin.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Madeline's Catholic Church. Time and Date are pending at this time.
Committal services will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Port Henry, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Madeline’s Angels of Mercy, 17158 US Hwy 441, High Springs, FL 32643.
