Hugh D. Rhea

Hugh D. Rhea, 65, of Gainesville, passed away May 12, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Hugh was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Gainesville 51 years ago. He was a Real Estate Appraiser and an active member of Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Regional Youth Member of Thrivent, and active in Teens Encounter Christ. Hugh also was on the Gainesville City Code Enforcement and a supporter of Habitat for Humanity and Florida Sheriff’s Boys Youth Ranch.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alicia Rhea. He is survived by sister Rita Cowan, brother Boyd Rhea, nieces and nephews, Lisa P. Casazza, Bret Cowan, Harriet Bryant, and James Rhea, and many great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, Chapel in the Meadows, 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL with Pastor J. David Bryant officiating. Inurnment will follow. On Hugh’s request please wear cheerful and bright colors, no black. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church Youth Ministry, 145 SW Sweetbreeze Dr., Lake City, FL 32024.
