George Richard Sweat

George Richard Sweat, 80, who resided in Ft. White passed away July 28, 2020.

Richard was born February 12,1940 in Dayton Ohio and was one of twelve children born to George and Ruth Sweat. He graduated high school and joined the Army in 1957 serving two tours in Vietnam.  He served in active duty until 1968 when he was honorably discharged. After that he served in the army reserves and retired from service in 2000.  He moved to the Gainesville area in the 1980’s as a HVAC service technician. After that he managed Skeeter’s Restaurant and later, he worked for the county as a maintenance technician.

Richard enjoyed spending time with family, and he loved his animals.  Richard was always there to help when he was needed. He was generous and caring even though he fussed about it. He liked to joke around and laugh and always said what he was thinking.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Joyce, Pat, Mary and Tim.  Richard is survived by his wife Judy.  Siblings John, Steve, Ruth, Karen, Peggy, Chris and Pamela. He is also survived by his children, Dieter, Peter, Kathy, Klaus and John and his stepchildren Jason, Donna, Christy and Joey.  He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard will be forever be loved and respected.

 

There will be a visitation, Wednesday August 5 @ 9 am at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central Chapel 4100 NW 39th AVE 32606. A service will follow at 10 am.
