William Walter Thompson, age 86, of Windsor (Gainesville) FL. Died on Saturday, July 4, 2021, at ET York Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. William was born on February 11, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Herman & Lillie (Delonay) Thompson. William was a longtime resident of Windsor (Gainesville) FL. Making his home with his wife and family. William was a proud Veteran serving in the US Navy as a Machinist Mate and retired after many years as the Senior Utilities Superintendent for the University of Florida in Gainesville. William was recently preceded in death by his loving wife Anita (Jones) Thompson on June 14, 2021, son William Kent Thompson, and his parents. He is lovingly survived by his son James A Thompson, daughter, Susan Pons, both of Windsor, FL. as well as by son, Stephen Lynn Thompson of Taylorville, IL. Arrangements and final care are under the direction of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, FL. At William’s request, all funeral services will be family private.
