Mr. Ralph Donald Roberts, Jr. 89 of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Wednesday,
February 23, 2022 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center, Gainesville.
Ralph was born in Waterloo, Iowa on June 30, 1932 to Ralph and Elizabeth (Avery)
Roberts.
He was the Nursing Home Administrator of Robert’s Care Center. He proudly
served in the United States Army from 1951~1952 where he was wounded in
combat and was awarded the Purple Heart upon his medical discharge.
Ralph was the VFW Commander for three years as well as the Canteen Manager
for ten years. He was the Secretary at the Moose Lodge, a member of the
American Legion, Elks Lodge (BPOE), the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and AMVETS.
He enjoyed reading, cruises, going to private clubs, playing golf and pool as well as
boating.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Janice Roberts, his children, Terry Barco,
Loretta Hunter, and Lisa Hodge, and his brother, Michael Roberts, as well as by his
grandchildren, Amanda Carlton, Blake Hunter, Joe Bradfield, Shon Hodge, Timothy
Barco and Jamie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, David, Roberts, Ronald
Roberts, and JoAnn Swanell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2 nd from 6-8 pm at Forest Meadows
Funeral Home; 725 NW 23 rd Avenue Gainesville. Funeral service will be celebrated
on Thursday, March 3 rd at 1:00 pm followed by the interment with Military Honors
at Forest Meadows Cemetery-Central.
Floral expressions are welcomed.

    Oh Ralph how you will be missed you were truly my favorite buddy. I loved you and Jan both you both were always goid to me and I loved going to the VFW when you were there I hope you know how much you were loved. Your friend forever Elaine

    Thank you for caring. It is so empty without him. The worst part is knowing that he will never be here again. won’t see him come thru that door after he got up in the morning. It”s
    been many years, almost 69 years. Hard to think any different. I told my kids, don’t ask me to do anything with his things until I say it.
