Alfred J. Dickhaus, 84, of Gainesville, FL died Sunday, November 11, 2012.
Born on June 4, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, Al served in the US Air Force where he was a pilot with the Strategic Air Command flying refueling missions for the B-52 Bombers and retired with the rank of Lt. Col. After graduating from the University of Florida Medical School, Dr. Dickhaus established his Radiology practice in Gainesville, where he was instrumental in bringing the first MRI machine to the area. Al was an avid golfer and a world traveler.
Al was predeceased by brothers, Don Dickhaus (Elizabeth) and Jerry Dickhaus (Carm) and is survived by his sons Dan Dickhaus (Valerie) of Gainesville and Stephen Dickhaus (Judy Keith) of Seacrest, FL, a daughter Beth Dickhaus (Darrin Sacks) of Denver, CO, and sisters Marianne Knaup and Joan Burtelow (Ed) both of St. Louis, MO, a brother Don Monfort and 3 grandsons, Elijah, Matt and Paul Dickhaus.
There will be a time of visitation and sharing of memories on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:00am in the Chapel in The Meadows inside the Mausoleum at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL. Burial will be private for family only.

When I first met Dr. Dickhaus, I was new to hospital ways. He guided and help me learn the ropes. Friendly, he always had an encouraging word.
