Alice C. Simpson passed away on 4/25/2023 at age 94. Born 12/24/1928 to Paul B. and Mary Stewart Curtis in Lafayette, Indiana, she attended schools in West Lafayette and graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics. She married R. Bruce Simpson on Feb. 24, 1951. They lived in Allentown, PA before relocating to Gainesville in 1957 when Bruce took a job with the Crom Corporation. Two children, Scott and Patty were born in Allentown followed by two more children, Gail and Paul, born in Gainesville. She was a “stay at home” mom, a long time active member of University Lutheran Church (1957) and supported the children’s school activities. She was a founding volunteer at NFRMC and worked at the information desk for 38 years. She enjoyed sewing, especially making costumes and quilts for the grandchildren and quilts she and others made that were donated to Lutheran World Relief. She is survived by her 4 children, Scott, Patty, Gail Bailey (Barry) and Paul (Tricia), grandchildren Kristin Hutchinson (Billy), Michael Bailey (Monica), Zachary Bailey, Morgan Simpson and Sean Simpson, 4 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Mary Lou Curtis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Bruce in 2019 and her brother Ken Curtis in 2018.
In keeping with Alice’s wishes there will be a private graveside service for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Haven Hospice in Gainesville or Lutheran World Relief.
