Ann M. Brown, age 84, of Gainesville Florida passed away on Saturday June 17, 2017 at Shands Hospital following a brief illness. Ann was born in Manchester, New Hampshire where she grew up as one of eight children. She attended Boston University where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. After graduation Ann joined the Army as first lieutenant and served for three years. She traveled the world with her husband of 55 years, Brisbane H. Brown Jr. (Lt Col.), who proceeded her in death.
She worked as a nurse at North Florida Regional Hospital for 26 years. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering as an usher at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and at Shands Hospital supporting the candy cart. In her work and her volunteer efforts, she enjoyed providing comfort to others with compassion. She was an active member of Saint Augustine Church in Gainesville.
She is survived by her sons Steven Brown and Mark Brown, daughter-in-law Jodi McGregor, sisters Helen D’Amours and Kathy Rattet, and brothers Bill Manning and Bernard Manning.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Saint Augustine Church, 1738 W. University Ave., Gainesville, Florida. Inurnment will follow at Forest Meadows East Cemetery, 3700 S.E. Hawthorne Road, Gainesville, Florida.
