Barbara Katherine “Kathy” Jones was born on May 25th, 1949 in Yokohama, Japan. She was raised with her two sisters, Anne Jones and Susan Jones Hughes, by her parents Donald A Jones and Barbara Hanson Jones. Her father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, and as such, Kathy was able to live in several places in her life time, spending the bulk of her life in the Miami area. For the last eight years, Kathy has lived in Williston, Florida. She passed away on January 6th, 2020 in Chiefland, Florida due to complications from end stage lung cancer. Kathy enjoyed life, and she loved her family. She was a dedicated employee to Shula’s Steakhouse for over twenty years, and during that time she won multiple awards in the Special Olympics for her bowling abilities. At times she was known to take tennis and art lessons, as well. When she wasn’t working, bowling or creating, Kathy loved being with her family. She was the much loved aunt of Danielle Burns, Amy Hughes, Rebecca Johnston, Erin Hughes, and Gavin Rundlett, all of whom have treasured memories of playing with Kathy as a child. She was a beloved great aunt to Robert Johnston III, Micaiah Johnston, Henry Johnston, Nina Johnston, Peyton Burns, Evie Burns, and Logan Rundlett. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. A memorial service will be held in honor of Kathy Jones on January 20th at 10am at Forest Meadows Cemetery 4100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville, Fl. Pastor Joshua Dease will officiate. A burial service will follow on January 21st at 11 am at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee. Friends and family are encouraged to attend wearing knee-high colorful socks, as Kathy often did, to celebrate a life well lived.
