Mother Betty L. Rush, age 76, answered God when He called her name on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Mother Rush was born to the late Milton and Jessie May in Fairbanks, FL. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Missionary, Deaconess and strong believer in the power of God.
In the early 1980’s, she made Springhill Missionary Baptist Church her home. Her ministerial activities included being a passionate and inspiring Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, President-Matron Society, Member-Mother’s Board, Missionary-Home Mission Society, visiting Chaplain at Lowell Women’s Correctional Institution and Bible Expositor First Division Ministers and Deacon Layman Union Jerusalem District.
Evangelist Rush was an active member of Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the ministerial staff under the leadership of Rev. Keith L. Smith.
Proceeded in death by her son Sgt. Ronnie C. Ellis, sister Leola Mae Brown, brothers Wilbert and John Henry May. She leaves precious memories for her children to cherish, Cynthia Ellis of Gainesville, FL; Milton Ellis of Gainesville, FL; Kimland Hardy (Derrie) of Ocala, FL; Jacqueline Gibson (James) of Los Angeles, CA; Yolanda Rush (Zana) of Atlanta, GA; Michael Rush (Jamie) of Gainesville, FL; brother Elder Milton May, Jr. (Elsie) of Fairbanks, FL; Uncle Ernest Richardson (Claire) of Orlando, FL, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
