Dr. William Robert Evans

Dr. William (Bill) Robert Evans, age 92 died at home with family.

 Bill was born  November 20,1928 in Baltimore, MD. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Baltimore Polytech HS in 1946. He then joined the United States Navy in 1948 and later joined the Naval Air and became a Navigator. After serving his country for 4 yrs. He moved to Tallahassee, FL and completed his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Education at Florida State University. He later attended the University of Florida and received his Doctorate in Education.

Bill taught 7thgr Science in Tallahassee and Miami, then taught Science on TV in Dade County. Later moved to Jacksonville where he was station manager for CH 7. Then moved to Palm Beach County and built the Instructional Television System. He later moved to Alachua County and was the Director of Learning Resources. He retired in 1984 and enjoyed his dream of having a small farm. He and his wife Margie enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They were active members in the Lutheran Church throughout their marriage.

Bill married Marjorie Potts in 1953 in Miami and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. They had 3 children Lynn Evans Guelzow (Tim), Kathleen Evans Beasley and Alan Shepard Evans (Carlie). They have 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Tunnel 2 Towers, Haven Hospice in Gainesville and Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Services will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 9700 W Newberry Rd with  a 10am Viewing and an 11am Celebration of Life.
