Brooksie Phillips, 93 of Titusville, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21st. She was the daughter of William H. and Ottis Moore (Bowdon, GA). She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Phillips; her sisters: Elma Gentry, Loyce Tuck, Annie Lou Cumbie, and Marian McIntosh; her brothers: Joy Moore, Henry Moore and H.J. Moore.
She is survived by her only daughter, Susan Gardner and her spouse, Jimmy Gardner (Titusville, FL), her granddaughters: Amy Gehret (San Diego, CA) and Jennifer Bryant (Ponte Vedra, FL). In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Linda DaSilva (Spring Hill, FL) and Jean Richardson (Bowdon, GA); her brother, Clemis Moore (Atlanta, GA).
After moving to Florida in 1949, she made her home in the beaches area of Jacksonville. She was first and foremost a loving mom and homemaker, always putting her family first. She was a member of Beach United Methodist Church, serving as a Kindergarten teacher and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a very creative person having been a talented seamstress, playing an array of musical instruments, decorating, quilting and crocheting. She spent ten years living on Andros Island in the Bahamas before moving to Gainesville, FL, in 1987 to be near her daughter and granddaughters. In 2001, she moved to Titusville.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00pm at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL .
