In Loving Memory of

Carita Voncile Sellers

 -

Carita “Voncile” Sellers age 94, passed away peacefully on Dec 24th, 2022 in Keystone Heights, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Isaac “Ike” Grayson Sellers, her son, Steven Carl Sellers, and grandson Steven Michael Sellers.  She is survived by her five children Ken (Cindy), Mike (Rhonda), Nancy (Mark), Susan, and David (Tara), along with ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Voncile was born January 15, 1928 in Jacksonville Florida to James Edward Rabb and Carita Mae (McCutchin) Rabb. She graduated from Andrew Jackson high school in Jacksonville Florida in 1946.

Voncile and Ike met at Riverview Baptist Church Jacksonville, Florida where they were in youth group together.  He didn’t ask her out until he was eighteen years old.  They had only dated for a couple of months before he asked her to marry him and were married December 8th, 1947 in Folkston, Georgia. They taught children’s church together. Ike told the bible stories and Voncile played the piano and lead the music. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant singing in the choir too. After the children were older she was the asst librarian at Victory Christian Academy.

They moved to Keystone Heights Florida in 1974 and built a home on Silver Sands Lake.  Voncile worked for a local doctor and then Eliam Baptist Church as the secretary.  In 1984, she retired from the church and Ike retired from NAS Jax.  They traveled the nation visiting many of the National Parks and also Canada.  She was a loving and devoted wife, caregiver to her husband during his long illness, mother and woman of God.

The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Haven Hospice in her honor.
