Catherine Elizabeth Colamonico 92, of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, June 4th , 2021 in Ocala, Florida.

 Visitation will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church on June 10th, 2021 at 6:30pm. Funeral service will be held at Blessed Trinity catholic Church on June 11th , 2021 at 2:00pm with Reverend Patrick Sheedy of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church officiating. Forest Meadows Funeral Home in Gainesville, FL are handling the funeral arrangements.

Catherine was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Nicholas and Clara Wegesser on August 23rd , 1928. She was a high school graduate and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis MI. Later she met and married John F. Newsom and moved to Southern California where she started her family and earned her degree as a “DOMESTIC ENGINEER” and gave birth to her ten beautiful children. Later moved to Gainesville, Florida where she worked in retail and banking then onto the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and retired at age 65. She became active a lifetime member of the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center and enjoyed doing senior yoga and swimming. She was a volunteer at her home parish St. Patrick Church rectory and school for many years. She enjoyed her lady’s coffee groups and many card groups that included mahjong. She also enjoyed being with her many grandchildren. She was a member of the Golden Gators Club where she met her beloved husband Tom Colamonico and it was true love at first sight. Her hobbies included Croqueting, making silk flower arrangements, painting and ceramics. Catherine is preceded in death by her father Nicholas and mother Clara, her beautiful sisters Christine (Chree) Back & Joe Back their son Wes & Nick, and Mary Knohn & Johnny Krohn and spouse John F. Newsom, husband Tom Colamonico, two, loving sons Timothy James Newsom, David Wayne Newsom and her precious grandson Timothy Joseph Newsom.

Catherine is survived by her children, Michael Newsom (Jenny), CA, Kathleen Forkey, NJ, John Newsom (Carol), FL, Charles Newsom (Susan), CA, Patrick Newsom (Kim), FL, Margaret Felix (Loring), FL, Chris Newsom (Lisa), NJ, Clara Hamilton (Peter Hamilton) FL, xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Step-Children Joi Colamonico (Trudy) and Thomas Colamonico (Linda), CT. Nephew Ken Krohn (June), their children Donna and Paul. Niece Judy George, Michael and Kathleen Her precious grandchildren, Angela Ragan, Jennifer St. John, Daniel Newsom, Katie Hamlin, Lindsay Catanese, Rebecca Forkey, Amanda Carmosino, Julianna Hamilton, Elizabeth Newsom, Victoria Newsom, Christopher Felix. Step Grandchildren, Justin Felix, Sarah Quinn, Richie Morrisey, Jarad Villemaire, Jennifer Boyd, Jessica Munday, Morgan German. 15 great-grandchildren, 9 great grand-dogs Woof Woof, and 2 great grand pigs (Paxton and Bristol) Oink Oink, and her sweet companion (Shady Lady) Meow Many loving family friends.
