David Leigh Jeffries, age 62, of Gainesville, FL, died at his home on December 26, 2018, following a lengthy illness. David was born in Holyoke, MA on January 30, 1956, to James Thomas Jeffries and Edith V. (Michaud) Essex. David was resident of Gainesville since 1970, being the son of an Airforce Serviceman, and he moved with his parents several times after leaving Holyoke, MA, in 1958. HE was a 1976 graduate of Buchholz High School, and attended classes at Santa Fe Jr. College. David worked for 8 years at the Meridian Behavioral Health Center, as a grounds keeper. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gainesville, and also at times attended Holy Faith Catholic Church, and he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golf, and being with his family and friends. David is preceded in death by his father James Thomas Jeffries in 2014, and his brother James Ernest Jeffries in 2010. David is lovingly survived by his mother, Edith V. Essex, and his brother, John Edward Jeffries, both of Hawthorne, FL, and sister, Linda Osborn, of Hendersonville, TN; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 1 great niece, and 2 great nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 2:00PM at The Triangle Club at 1005 SE 4th AVE, Gainesville with a Graveside Service at Forest Meadows Memorial Paek- East on Hawthorne Rd following the Service. David’s care and cremation are entrusted to Forest Meadows Funeral Home. 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609.
Edith I’m so sorry for your loss I know you love your son and you took care of them the best you can and now we know that he’s at rest no more pain I’m sure he’s up there visiting with Cora my ex-wife laughing and joking looking down on us if there’s anything I can help with or do for you please let me know.
