In Loving Memory of

Deacon John David Stewart, Sr.

Deacon John David Stewart, Sr. peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2015. He was born on November 9, 1924 in Micanopy, FL  to the late Mr. Johnnie and Essie Mae Stewart. He graduated from Alachua County Public Schools.  He served in the United States Army in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.  He furthered his education upon returning from war and received his tailoring certification from Fersenden Academy in 1950.  He married his beloved Wilma Bradley on December 8, 1951.  He was a faithful member and deacon at Williams Temple COGIC for over 45 years.   He was also a musician for various churches throughout Marion and Alachua Counties.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  His wife of 63 years, Missionary Wilma Stewart; three sons- John D. Stewart, Jr.(Linda), Ft. Myers, FL, Larry D. Stewart (Sylvia), Fayetteville, NC, Nyron L. Bradley, Jacksonville, FL; 2 Daughters-Johnnie Mae Harris (James), Lutz, FL, Andranique N. Gillins (Victor), Gainesville, FL; a special foster son-Robert Head, Gainesville, FL;

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Williams Temple COGIC, 628 NW 7th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601 and visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, January 9 at Williams Temple COGIC. Interment with military honors will be in Haynes Memorial Cemetery, Micanopy, FL
