Donahue, Joseph Francis
Joseph passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 26, 2018 at NFRMC, 3 weeks before his 93rd birthday. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 18, 1925. He enlisted in the US Army at age 18 and was sent to fight in Germany and France during WWII. In 1950 he was again sent to fight in Korea. He remained in the military for 20 years. Joe loved his family, baseball (especially the Oakland A’s, formerly of Philadelphia), dancing, swimming, fishing and classic country music such as Hank Williams Sr. and Merle Haggard. He was predeceased by his wife Edith of 68 years. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Donahue and Christine (Tom) Best; granddaughter, Cassandra A. Cranmer (all of Florida); and brother, John (Regina) Donohue of Turnersville, NJ. We want to thank Joseph Jamora and Amrita KC for their genuine care, concerns, and kindness shown to dad and to Rosanna Rodriguez for making him feel special and for the joy and fun she brought to him daily. His smile, sense of humor, sweet, caring, and generous nature will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. There will be a gathering for family and friends in the chapel at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL at 11:00am on Friday, November 30, 2018. Interment with Military Honors will be held directly following the gathering. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, FL.
