was born July 20th 1933 in Hamilton Ontario Canada to Alfred and Dorothy Armstrong. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a surgical technician. He earned a B.S. degree from San Diego State, and his master’s degree from the University of Colorado. He went onto earn his doctorate in Education from the Univ of Tulsa, his PhD from the University of Oslo in Norway and a doctorate in Science from the University of Prague in Czechoslovakia.
He served as a professor at the University of Kuwait in Kuwait City, University of Buffalo in New York and the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
He was married to Christine Armstrong for 59 years and has 6 children; Tony Armstrong, David Armstrong, Dennis Armstrong, Sandra Guenther, Kenneth Armstrong and Elizabeth Cooper. He has 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Dorothy Armstrong, his wife Christine Armstrong and sister Geraldine Herrera.
Funeral Services for Dr. Armstrong will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 25, 2019 at Forest Meadows Cemetery (Central). 4100 NW 39th Av. Gainesville, Fl 32606. Following the service a Reception & Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church 4000 NW 53rd Av. Gainesville, Fl 32653 at 1pm.
