Dorothy L. Allen, 83 Passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at ET York Hospice Care Center.

Dorothy was born June 6, 1930 in Sylvester, GA to Iverson and Mille Luke McCook

She moved to Florida in 1958 from GA

Dorothy was employed at the State of Florida as an Occupational Therapist, and worked at Tacachale (formerly Sunland). Mrs. Allen was an avid believer in giving to others, and donated many hours and time to the Salvation Army.  She was in the Salvation Army League of Mercy.

She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Allen Jr. in 1999, and is survived by her son, Johnny (Teri ) Allen, two daughters, Donna Brown and Denise Maturo, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 26 from 5-7:00p.m.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Meadows Memorial Park, Central, 4100 N.W. 39th Ave. with Lt. Karen and Lt. Preston Lewis officiating.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army of Gainesville, 639 N.E. University Ave. Gainesville, FL 32601
