Dr. Lijuan Fang, PhD, age 56, of Gainesville, FL. passed away Friday night, December 21, 2018 at Shands of UF Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Dr. Fang was a longtime Research Scientist and faculty member of University of Florida College of Medicine, she worked in the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension & Transplantation @ the College of Medicine. She held the position of Medical Scientist III and is published in several professional journals. She was born in Changsha, China, on September 26, 1962, to the late Jian’an Fang & Chunxia Li, and she was divorced many years ago. She achieved bachelor’s degree in Hunan Normal University, in 1983, master’s degree in Sun Yat-Sen University, in 1989, and doctorate degree in University of Sherbrooke, then, left her home in China, traveled and worked in Singapore, then to Canada, and finally came to Gainesville 12 years ago. She is survived by her brother Bin Fang of Changsha, China and Niece Ming Fang of San Francisco, CA. Lijuan’s family will receive colleagues, co-workers, and friends on Friday, December 28, 2018, from 1-3 pm, at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609. The Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM, and will be comprised of shared reflections of family and friends and all are encouraged to share memories of Dr. Fang.
