Dr. Neil V. “Buster” Keaton

Dr. Neil V. “Buster” Keaton, 92 of Gainesville passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the E.T. York Haven Hospice House.  Buster was born on February 12, 1922 in Chillicothe, OH to Rev. E.A. and Donna Keaton.

 

Neil V. Keaton served in the U.S. Coast Guard as Assistant to a Navy Chaplain on board the troop transport ship, General H.L. Scott.   Buster received his doctorate in Education degree from The University of Tennessee in 1965.  He was a public school Educator and Administrator for 28 years, completing his service in 1972 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Buster worked also as a coordinator for Burger King for 4 years. He was a Baptist and directed church music for 17 years and visited several Churches in Alachua County.

 

Buster was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Marvin Keaton.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years Alice, His son Larry Keaton and Daughter Vickie Keaton. Two grandsons, one granddaughter, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  Buster was deeply devoted to his wife and family and will be greatly missed.

 

Funeral services for Dr. Keaton will be Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 at 11:00am in Countryside Baptist Church with interment to follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East’s “Military Garden of Honor”.
