Edith White Carr

Edith White Carr, 95, peacefully went home  to be with her Lord on Sunday,  April 20, 2014.  She was born February 20, 1919 in Huntsville, Alabama to Bryan and Mamie White.  She was married in 1938 to James Jones.  They had two children, Patricia Jones Brannen and James Jones, Jr.  They lived in Sylacauga, Alabama. 

Following the death of James Jones, Edith married Bailey Carr.  They were married for 28 years.  They lived in Anniston, Alabama, Murfreesboro, Tennessee,  and Lynchburg, Virginia.  In 1981, Bailey passed away and Edith moved to Gainesville, Florida, where she worked as a Property Manager until her retirement. 

She enjoyed gardening, playing golf, shopping, playing Bridge and Canasta and spending time with family and friends.  She was also very well known for her ministry of sending cards and notes.  She had a very long list each month of people that she sent birthday cards and also notes of encouragement to those who were sick or just needed encouraging.  She was an active member at North Central Baptist Church for 32 years.    She was faithfully involved in her Sunday School class and Missionary support group.  Above all else, Edith loved and served the Lord for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones Brannen (Jerre), grandaughters, Stacy Darty, (Walt),  Kelly Carr (Calvin), Terre Ulm (Scott),  Kim Jones and grandsons, Peyton Jones (Kristen), Jerre Brannen, Jr. (Melissa),  16 great-grandchildren , 5 great-great grandchildren, and her brother, Jerald White . She was preceded in death by her son, James Jones, Jr.  and her brothers, Grady White and David Leon White.

Funeral services for Edith will be held at the North Central Baptist Church at 11:30am on Thursday, April 24th, 2014 with a visitation starting at 10:30am.  Interment will be in Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central
