Elizabeth T. “Betty” Yakubsin, 93, of Alachua died on Monday, April 21, 2014 at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born November 6, 1920 in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1972 she moved from California to Alachua, Florida then to Ft. White, for a short time then returned to Alachua in 2003, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Yakubsin was of the Catholic Faith.
She Retired from Pic –N- Save Department Store in Gainesville, Florida where she managed the Clothing Department. Betty also worked at J.C. Penney Co. in California.
Betty loved knitting, and volunteered numerous hours knitting booties and slippers for newborn babies and their mothers at AGH, as well as Slippers for Military men and women. Betty volunteered numerous skills and talents to The Military Support Group of Alachua County, She helped pack boxes and filled candy bags to be sent overseas. She loved helping others and gave 10 years plus of volunteering for them until her failing health forced her to stop.
Mrs. Yakubsin was preceded in death by her husband Adam, and all four of her brothers, Michael, Robert, Steven, and Joseph Komaromi.
She is survived by her son James E. “Jim” (Linda) Yakubsin, of Alachua, Florida, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews, including Linda (John) White, of Connecticut.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24th, 2014, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Chapel in the Meadows, at Forest Meadows Memorial Park, (Mausoleum) 4100 N.W. 39th Ave, Gainesville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Alachua, 14805 NW 140th Street, Alachua, FL.

Our lives were better having known this beautiful gift of God, named Elizabeth Yakubsin! We will miss you but will carry on in your example of faith, and strength.
