Ellis H. O’Neal, age 91 passed away April 7, 2016 at Shands at UF in Gainesville, Fl. He was born in Webster, Iowa on January 25, 1925 to the late Hugh and Emily O’Neal. Ellis graduated from the University of Florida in January of 1949 with a degree in Engineering. He also served in WWII as top turret gunner and flight engineer on B17’s with 26 missions over Germany with the 398th bomber group and spent 32 years as power plant construction engineer with Florida Power and Light.
Ellis was married for 70 years to his beloved Harriet Elizabeth Brush of Tampa, Fl on Nov. 25, 1945 and had three children: Daniel Ellis O’Neal, Kathy O’Neal-Niles and Robin Anne Hendrickson, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer, Jonathan, Patrick and Emily and 2 great grandchildren: Oliver and Owen.
A Private Family Graveside Service has been planned. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Gainesville, FL.

I know Mr. O’Neal will be missed by his family, I am a SWHS graduate, 1968, and I knew him then. Being that he was a WWII veteran, I thankful for his service especially at the time he served in WWII. My condolences to all the O’Neal family especially Danny.
