In Loving Memory of

Eva Sue Holladay

12/23/1920 - 01/30/2014

Eva Sue Holladay left this world for a far better one on January 30, 2014. She had, by the meaningful measures, a wonderful life. Born in Savannah Ga. on 12/23/1920, she was the youngest of four children and the only girl. In 1939 she married Paul Holladay. She was a wonderful wife and mother to three sons. For many years she sold Tupperware. After Paul’s death in 1977 she worked as a manager for Children’s Medical Services for the State of Florida. Sue was a devoted Christian, a lifelong Baptist and charter member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Woman’s Missionary Union. She taught Sunday School for decades and was a deacon. She was a “pillar of the church.” Sue lived a life worthy of celebration and emulation. She was “a good and faithful servant.”

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul and son William (Bill) Holladay. She is survived by sons Cecil A.(Doc) Holladay (Linda) of Montgomery, AL., J. Tracy Holladay (Debbie) of Louisville, KY, grandchildren David (Lori), Joy (Michael)Loomis, Andrew, Matthew (Kylie), Luke, Paul (Sarah) & Anna and seven great-grandchildren: Jessica, Leah, Christopher, Hannah, Brett, Sadie & Parker. She will also be greatly missed by her former daughter-in-law Judy Ritesma (Bernie).

Funeral at 11am, Saturday, 2/8/2014 at Parkview Baptist Church, 3403 NW 13th St., Gainesville, FL.  Visitation at the church starting at 10:00 am. Memorial gifts may be made to the church.

I worked with Ms Holladay at Children’s Medical Services in the late 1970’s. She was always helpful and pleasant. I will remember her as a kind person with a wonderful smile.

I worked with Mrs. Holladay at Children’s Medical Services in the late 1970’s. I remember her as a kind and special lady. I still have her recipe for “cornbread dressing” that she gave me while working there. Heaven has truly gained an angel in this dear lady. My condolences to her family.

Mrs Holladay was my first boss when I worked one summer as a teenager for children’s medical services. Little did I know that I would become a provider for CMS for 30+ years. Later mrs Holladay and I became mission partners working with GA girls and Acteens through the Santa Fe river baptist association . She was a true mentor and friend to me that I will never forget .
My thoughts and prayers are with her family .

We would like to join the family and friends in celebrating the going home of our dear friend- Sue Holladay. We met Sue and Paul in 1969 when we joined Parkview and lived right around the corner from them along with many other faithful friends and members. We left Gainesville in 1974 but continued to stay in touch with Sue for many years to come; and made many annual visits to see her in Asheville each summer as she sat the Casey’s cottage. She was a dear friend; a wonderful Christian role model and a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior. It was our great privilege to know her and to call her our friend- we miss her and look forward to seeing her again as we spend eternity together in the worship and praise of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and his Heavenly Father. Our prayers are with all of her family.
