Evangelina (Angel) Hoover, of Alachua, Florida passed away peacefully on July 4, 2014, at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 94.
Angel was born on August 20, 1919 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She met and married her husband of sixty-two years, Fred M. Hoover while he was stationed at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. They loved traveling around the United States and Canada in their RV. She became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church after moving to Gainesville from Hollywood, FL. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and Shrinettes. She loved playing the organ and singing her favorite hymns, and could not wait to do the Sun Crossword Puzzle each day. Her favorite things were her Church, collecting Hummels, her Thursday dinner outings with her (Thursday gang), and Las Vegas. She loved her journey through life and the many interesting people she met along the way.
Angel attended McNeese State College in Lake Charles, LA where she pursued a degree in business. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Sonia Hoover and Loretta Shane of Alachua;, son, Fred M. Hoover, Jr. (Joanne); grandson, Donald Hoover; granddaughter, Jacqueline Pursley (Will); and great-granddaughter, Willa Evangelina Pursley all of Austin Texas; nephew, John Karban (Carmen) of Puerto Rico; grandnephews Anibal Karban of Titisville and John Karban, Jr. of Puerto Rico.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Feed the Children Foundation. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home (352) 378-2528.
