Flora G. Jobe passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at North Florida Rehab & Specialty Care at the age of 91. She was born November 6, 1922 in Miami, FL to Charles E. Russell and Flora MacDonald Russell. She was the youngest of five children.
Flora married Larry Jobe (USN) in Miami in 1944. She, her husband, and son Dennis moved to Gainesville in 1951. The following year a daughter, Gail, completed their family. Flora worked as a clerk with the University of Florida housing department for over 30 years. She was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed many activities and trips in the fellowship of the “Young at Hearts” senior group. She was a member of the Alachua General Hospital Auxiliary for several years. Flora loved to play bridge and was known around town for her wonderful cookies and pound cakes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, and her four siblings. She is survived by her daughter Gail, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, extended family and many lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 29, at Wesley United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior beginning at noon. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Flora to Wesley United Methodist Church, 826 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609.
Flora was the sweetest and kindest co-worker one could ever be so privileged to work beside. My deepest condolences to the family.
