Foye M. Gillis, 80 of Gainesville, Fl., passed away on Thursday, Sept 3, 2015 at the Et York Haven Hospice Care Center. Foye was born in DeFuniak Springs, Fl., and moved to this area in 1948. Foye was a retired Teller for Southern Bell Phone Company. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, a former member of the Alachua Co. Republican Executive Committee and she enjoyed all sports, gardening and painting.
Foye is preceded in death by her parents- Fate and Lurie Radford, Husband- Zane “Bobby” Gillis, sister- Evelyn Faye Ward and granddaughter- Holly Scott. She is survived by her daughter- Bonnie Mazer and her husband Alan of Gainesville, son- Andrew Gillis and his wife Lisa of Micanopy, son- Jody Fate Gillis of Gainesville, brother- Roy Radford and his wife Sandy of Daytona Beach, and 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
The family will be having a gathering at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home on Wed, Sept 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the funeral service celebrating Foye’s life will be Thursday at 10:00 am all are welcome to attend and share with the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Haven Hospice in memory of Foye.
Aunt Foye, thank you for all the good times we were able to share with you. Our memories are forever. Rest in peace and God Bless
