Frank J. Vertucci

Dr. Frank J.Vertucci of Gainesville, Florida passed away on June 20, 2022.


Dr. Vertucci was born in Brooklyn, New York to Nicholas and Elizabeth Vertucci. He was a Professor Emeritus of the College of Dentistry at the University of Florida. He received his B.S. in biology from St. John’s University. He completed both his DMD and specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He holds board certification in Endodontics and is a fellow of the American and International College of Dentists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics

Dr. Vertucci served in U.S. Naval Reserve from 1967 to 1973 and served as the Staff Endodontist for the U.S. Navy at the U.S. Naval Station, Mayport, Florida from 1973 to 1975

After serving his country, he joined the Department of Endodontics at the University of Florida in 1975, was named Department Chair in 1980 and became Director of the Postgraduate program in 1996. Dr. Vertucci has received the teacher of the year and outstanding clinical Professor Awards in recognition of his teaching. A nationally and internationally known author and extensive lecturer throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America

Dr. Vertucci served on editorial boards and was a reviewer for CW Mosley Publishing, Journal of Endodontics, Journal of Dental Education, and the International Endodontics Journal. Frank was a national consultant for the for the Hygienic Corporation and Medidenta International and also served as an Endodontic consultant for the Department of Professional Regulations and Florida Board of Dentistry

Outside of his profession career, Dr. Vertucci enjoyed traveling, reading and the arts. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Natalie Vertucci; his son Brian Vertucci, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and god son.

    I just happened to see this. He was my faculty advisor at the College of Dentistry from 1975-1979. What a great guy. If not for him, I would not have graduated from dental school.! God bless you Frank Vertucci.
