Franklin Carl Johnson, age 89, a longtime resident of Gainesville, FL died on August 13, 2021, at the Plaza Health and Rehab Center. Franklin was born on March 3, 1932, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Henning C. & Agnes (Brown) Johnson. Franklin was a graduate of Tulane University, in New Orleans, and studied English and obtained a bachelor’s degree in education. Franklin was an English Teacher for both grammar and junior high schools in California for a year and then in Florida. Franklin returned to Florida in June of 1959 and continued teaching the Miami. As a teacher, he was well respected, loved by all his students, and was known as being very dedicated. Franklin loved to read poetry and limericks along with classic literature and enjoyed speaking German to his friends. Franklin was a member of the Unity of Gainesville Church. Franklin is survived by his life partner Raymond J. Caillier, close personal friends, Cansel & Carl Osberg, Constance King, Tammy Fisher, and Michael King, all of Gainesville, FL. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave. Gainesville, FL 32609. Friends will come together for a Memorial Gathering to be held at the Unity of Gainesville Church on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 2 PM.
