Gladys McHenry Parrish, 86 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, FL.
Gladys was born in Chicago Heights, IL on June 14, 1927 to John and Martha McHenry. Her early childhood was spent in Nashville, TN. Gladys later moved to Mt. Pleasant, TN where she graduated from Hay Long High School. Mrs. Parrish then returned to Nashville and attended Draughn’s Business College. She worked in customer service at the City Hall in Gainesville for 22 years.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha McHenry; step-mother, Tobbie McHenry; sister, Donna (Jess) Poag; and brother, Lloyd McHenry.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James B. Parrish and nephews, John (Tina) Poag; Phillip (Rebecca) Poag; niece, Paula Poag; great nieces, Karyn (Eric) Roed; Emily Poag (Dan Amabile); great- nephew Philip (Jami) Poag, Jr; great- great- nieces and nephews, Ellie and Griffin Roed, Molly Amabile, Ryan Poag and sister-in-law, Martha Jean McHenry.
Funeral Services will be private. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date at Oak Hammock.
