Grover Henry Smith, 76, celebrated his heavenly birthday on Friday, February 28, 2014.
Henry worked 13 years for the Collier County Sheriff’s Department as a Sheriffs Deputy. He also owned and operated Smith’s Garage in Immokalee, FL, a business he inherited from his father.
He loved to travel, go fishing, and watch NASCAR races. All of which he’d forgo to watch his favorite sport, boxing.
Henry was born at Immokalee General Hospital on January 26, 1938 to James J. Smith and Agnes Dupree Smith. He was one of eight children. Six of his sisters have preceded him in death, while the seventh, Mrs. Yvonne Smith, still resides in Ft. Myers, FL.
Henry wed Mary Ora Paul in 1957, Ora preceded Henry to heaven in 1996. They are survived by three children, David Smith of Okeechobee, FL, Greg Smith of Naples, FL, and Alice McGhee of Immokalee, FL, six Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.
Henry is survived by his wife and companion of fourteen years, Cynthia Smith of Gainesville, FL, his Stepdaughter, Jaime Mckay of Gainesville, FL, his Stepson, Brad Mckay of Chicago, IL and a Granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00pm.
