Henry (Hank) Traverse McKeithen

11/17/1948 - 10/01/2014

Hank McKeithen, age 64, passed away on October 1, 2014, in his home after a lengthy illness. A longtime resident of Alachua County, Hank was retired from the US Department of Agriculture Entomology Laboratory after over thirty years of service.

Hank was born and raised in Live Oak, Florida where he was an outstanding athlete, playing both football and baseball. Following graduation from Suwannee High School, he attended the University of Florida and served in the Florida Army National Guard in the 269th Engineering Company in his home town.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty four years, Kathleen, his two sons Steven McKeithen of Fresno, California, Daniel McKeithen of Tallahassee, and his daughter Sara McKeithen of Gainesville; two brothers, George McKeithen of Manatee County, Florida, and Michael McKeithen of Yulee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Traverse McKeithen, Sr. and Muriel Dale McKeithen.

Hank grew up in the First United Methodist Church of Live Oak and he and Kathy are members of Grace United Methodist Church of Gainesville.

Hank will be remembered by all who knew him as a loving husband and father, brother, cousin, teammate and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A family memorial service has been held.
