Herman L. “Bud” Steudel of Gainesville passed away on August 31 a few weeks before his 91st birthday. Bud was born on September 26, 1926 in Passaic, New Jersey to Max and Lilly Steudel. Bud enlisted in the Army in World War II and served as a medical technician. After his discharge from active duty, he served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve until1953. He graduated from Rutgers University. Bud was a successful businessman and founded a company in Chicago as a manufacturers’ representative selling industrial process control equipment. In retirement he lived in Sarasota and Gainesville Florida where he enjoyed playing golf.
Bud’s wife, Rose (Callan) Steudel preceded him death. He is survived by his wife Mona (Waldrop) Steudel with whom he enjoyed traveling and playing Boggle. He is survived by his daughter Mary Bodle and her husband David and grandchildren, Jeffrey (Marlee) Bodle, Elizabeth (Christopher) Karow and Christopher Bodle. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Steudel. Bud will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and missed by Mona’s children Mike, Denise, and Melody.

A funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gainesville, on Friday, September 29 at 11:00 am.
