Hubert E. Buckley (Hubie) age 85, of Gainesville, FL passed peacefully at his home December 3, 2015.

Hubert was born, raised , and lived virtually his entire life on the same property just west of Gainesville. He graduated from the U of F and was a lifelong Gator fan. Early on he worked with his father, Rolf Buckley, in the tung oil and cattle business. Later he worked for himself, designing and installing turf landscape irrigation systems for golf courses across the southeast, and was the president of the Florida Turf Grass Association. He eventually decided to forgo traveling and formed a local residential and business irrigation company to stay closer to home with his family. Over the years he did extensive residential work in and around Gainesville, as well as larger projects for UF, NFRMC, and Oak Hall School, among many others.
He was a lover of words, and enjoyed reading and crosswords, and never met a dog that didn’t like him.
