Imogene Hackworth Robertson-Carter-Sullivan passed away at the age of 95 on May 14, 2018, at Palm Gardens, in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by family. She was Born to Lou Smith and George Washington Hackworth in Womble, Arkansas on October 1, 1922. She is survived by her three children Ardith Hoath (Gary), George Robertson (Peggy), Susan Forron (Stan) and step-children Charles Carter (Doris) and Barbara Burgett (Jim). She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Chester Robertson and Charles Carter. Also preceded in death by her step-sons Nelson Carter and Bill Carter. Her life was a amazing journey, moving several times as a young girl because her father worked for the railroad, I’m sure she experienced many things. She played basketball on her high school team, and even picked cotton as a very young girl with her brothers, which she quickly learned was not as much fun as she thought it would be. Eventually she made it to Michigan, where she worked as a factory worker for the Burroughs Corporation, a major American manufacturer of business equipment, in Plymouth. She was a homemaker and loving mother to all of her children. Summer vacations were spent at Burroughs Farms, A Recreational Center For Employees of Burroughs Corporation in Brighton, Michigan, and at the beach in Panama City, Florida, eventually retiring to Waldo, Florida, where she and Charles Carter called home. She will be missed tremendously, but will always remain in our hearts. Visitation will be Saturday, May 19th at 11:00 AM, and the service will begin at 11:30 AM at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Street, Gainesville, FL.
