Jacqueline English

Alachua – Jacqueline Carter English, age 83, passed away on November 10th at Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. She was born and raised in Cross City, Florida and moved to Gainesville with her husband and children in 1961. She was a mother and homemaker for many years before going to work at General Electric. She retired from GE in 1991 after 23 years.

She enjoyed yard sales, bowling, crocheting and sewing. She made many outfits from her handmade paper patterns. She also enjoyed growing and freezing fresh vegetables, making jelly and her homemade lotion that she shared freely.

She was preceded in death by her father Jack Carter, stepfather Hamp Herring, her half brother Leon Herring, her mother Lessie Herring, stepsister Bertha Umnuss, stepbrother Harold Herring, half-sisters Ozella Locke, Martha Lyles, and half-brother John R Carter. Brother-in-law Jude Chewning and sister-in-law Barbara Herring.

She is survived by sister Minnie Lee Chewning; half-sibling’s Herman Herring (Charlotte); Marie Sanchez; Thomas Herring.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Willis English; one son Jimmy English; one stepson Chris English (Julianne) and daughters Joyce Adams (Ronny); Jeanie Siraj (Shariq); and Janice Brogan (Michael); grandson Joey Peiso; granddaughters Holly Taylor (Tracy); Kandace Collins (Rusty); Aliya Webb (Jordan); Henna Siraj; Jaelyn Peiso (Stephanie); Saramarie Brogan; step grandchildren Caroline English and Jackson English; and four great grandchildren.

A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at Forest Meadows Funeral Home 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL.
