James Brown Goodson, Jr., 98 of Gainesville, died October 28, 2013 at the North Florida Specialty Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Goodson was born in Sanderville, GA on July 10, 1915 to James and Annie Goodson and grew up in Gainesville, FL. James was a Chemical Engineer and served in the US Army working to develop chemical weapons during WWII where his achieved the rank of Colonel. James was partner in the Engineering firm Black, Crow and Eidsness which is now CH2M Hill.
James was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Helen Goodson and is survived by his son James B. Goodson, III (Jeanne) of Keystone Heights, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral Services for Dr. Goodson will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, 419 NE 1st St with a viewing one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
