James Calvin Bowman

James Calvin Bowman, 86, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016.

He was born December 5, 1929 in Leeds, Alabama, the son of Lubie and Myrtle Bowman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Lybrand Bowman, and his daughter, Melissa Bowman. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Bowman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo White.

Other survivors include his brother, Bill (Shirley) Bowman, aunt, Jettie Isbell, and grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Joseph, Amy, Joshua, and Lauryn Bowman.

After retiring from a thirty-five year career with General Electric, James spent an additional fifteen years working for the Alachua County Elections office.

James loved classic cars and football. He was the biggest University of Alabama fan in Florida, and, before he moved to Florida, he never missed attending a game. Above all, he loved his family and delighted in his grandchildren.
