James David (Dave) Waldrop, 84, passed away on May 24, 2015 in the Neuro ICU Unit of Shands Hospital. He was born in Oneonta, Alabama to the late Preston James Waldrop and Victoria Harrell Waldrop. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Connie Waldrop.
Dave and Connie married in 1951 just before he entered military service in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas in Worms, Germany. Upon his return home, they lived and worked in Anniston, Alabama and later moved to Gainesville in 1960. Dave worked side by side with his beloved wife for 40 years in their promotional products business in Gainesville. Dave was well known by all of the business community in Gainesville and all of his clients were more friends than business contacts. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith and a longtime member Gainesville Jaycees. Connie was the center of his life and they travelled together to all corners of the globe. Dave’s passions were his family, his friends, fishing and the Gators.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Waldrop (Makiko), brothers Bill Waldrop (June) of Anniston, Alabama, and Daniel Waldrop (Pat) of Jacksonville, sisters Juanita Bryant (Johnny) (Wellington, Alabama) and Judy Mays (Anniston, Alabama), grandsons Harlan James Waldrop and Griffin Arthur Waldrop of Salem, Oregon, and granddaughters Sara Michelle, Julie Alison and Kalley Jean Waldrop.
