James Edward Maxwell passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2019 in Gainesville, FL. He was 79 years old. James was born in Huntington, WV on October 6, 1940. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to work on old cars and made that his career. He also loved history and liked to customize everything. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his mother Minnie, and his brother Johnny. He is survived by his son Stephen (Becki), and his four stepsons, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A viewing will be held for him at Forest Meadows Funeral Home located at 725 NW 23rd Ave. Monday October 14  from 5 to 6 pm
