James “Joe” Pruett

James “Joe” Pruett, 75, passed away on July 10, 2014 at Shands at UF, Gainesville, FL. Joe was born March 4, 1939 in Kinston, AL to Harwood “Doc” Pruett and Elizabeth Grimes Pruett.  He grew up in Dade City, FL leaving to attend the University of Florida at the age of 16.  During his years at the university, he worked at the Primrose Restaurant.  He often spoke of the many fond memories of all the friends he made while there.

 

After earning a degree in Business Administration, Joe worked for combined insurance Co. for ten years, then with American Family Life (AFLAC) for many years being very successful as State and Regional Manager, training other salesmen and helping them to become managers.  He was well-liked and loved by all who worked with him.  He enjoyed working in the yard, fishing at the Suwannee River, watching his sons play their sports and coaching Little League baseball in Valdosta, GA.

 

Joe was a member of the Archer Church of Christ.

 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Pruett. He is survived by his wife, Gail Holt Pruett, two sons, Jim Pruett of Lake City; Kenneth Pruett of St. Augustine; two grandchildren, Breanna Pruett and Briley Pruett; three sisters: Patricia Oakley and Judy Walls of Dade City and Melinda Mischik of Atlanta, GA.  as well as many nieces and nephews.
