Janice Annette Nobles, of Cross Creek, passed away on July 19, 2022 in Gainesville.
Visitation will be held at New Cross Creek Baptist Church 18921 S County Rd 325. Hawthorne,
FL 32640, Monday, July 25 at 11 AM.
The funeral service will be held at New Cross Creek Baptist Church Monday, July 25 at noon
with. Pastor Daniel Blasiole of New Cross Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at
Forest Meadows East Cemetery 3700 SE Hawthorne Rd, Gainesville, FL 32641. Forest
Meadows Funeral Home are handling the funeral arrangements.
Janice was born Camilla, Georgia to Julius Carl Harmon and Betty Shirah Harmon on May 27,
1931. Janice was a cafeteria manager for the School Board of Palm Beach County for eleven
years. Over the years Janice volunteered many hours at Florida Baptist Children’s Home in
Gainesville. She faithfully donated to many charitable organizations like the Humane Society,
the Christian Appalachian Project, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and her home church. All of
which were near and dear to her heart. Janice was an avid gardener and naturalist. She spent
many happy hours in her home garden on the Creek.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Carl Harmon and Betty Shirah Harmon, her
brothers Julius Carl Harmon Jr. and Kermit Harmon, her sisters, Josephine Harmon Shelley and
Doris Harmon McConnell, her nephew David Shelley, and her eldest son, James Allen Betts.
Janice is survived by her husband, Earnest Nobles of Cross Creek, FL, her sons Michael Lee
Betts of Andalusia, AL and Dwayne Paul Betts Fredericksburg, VA, her niece June Medley of
Apalachicola. Her beloved grandchildren, Bonnie Sue Trammell, Benny Lee Betts, Devin. Curry,
Kayla Betts, Sheryl McKathan, and Tyler Betts. Her great grandchildren Justin Spooner, Garrett
Spooner, Bailey Trammell, Elish McKathan, Ashley McKathan, Jude Curry and Caleb Betts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be mailed to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital ALSAC/St.
