Jeffrey Michael “Jeff” Halley, 48, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, on August 16, 2017.
A native of Kentucky, Jeff grew up as a Navy brat and graduated from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA, in 1987. Jeff was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from University of Florida in 1992.
Jeff was medically retired from Gateway Bank of Central Florida (now CenterState Bank), where he served as a network administrator. He also served as worship leader at Faith Presbyterian Church in Gainesville for several years until unable to continue due to his illness.
Jeff was an inspiration to all who knew him. A devout Christian, he faced the challenge of cancer with a firm faith in God’s love, care, and providence. Though his loss is mourned by family and friends, all are comforted to know that his faith is now sight and he is in the presence of his loving God.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Tammy; his loving daughter, Sarah; his parents, Carmen and Michael Halley of Suffolk, VA; his brother, David Halley of Suffolk; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 19, at 11 am at Faith Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, conducted by Pastor Steve Lammers. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church. Jeff will be buried in Forest Meadows Cemetery.
Jeff’s family would welcome flowers as an expression of sympathy. In addition, contributions toward Sarah’s education may be made payable to the Halley Education Fund Account, c/o CenterState Bank, 4100 NW 37th Place, Gainesville, FL 32606.
Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave., Gainesville, FL 32609, is serving the family.
The family wishes to thank their many friends for the love, prayers, and support during Jeff’s long illness. Your kind words, thoughts, and prayers have been a wonderful blessing. Thank you to all who sustained this family. May God richly bless you all.
Jeff was a wonderful son. We have always been so very proud of him. Hard to say “Farewell” to a child, but we release him to our Father who loved him better than any of us. Rest in peace, dear son.
From your mother and father
Those of us fortunate to have known Jeff during his time in Gainesville will always admire Jeff’s pure heart, good conscience, and sincere faith. I pray that God will empower us as fellow members of His Church to encourage, comfort, and aupport Tammy and Sarah.
Tammy and Sarah,
I was so saddened to learn of Jeff’s passing. I know you will miss him terribly but thanks to our Heavenly Father you will be with Jeff again. Remember the love that the three of you shared and know that God is with you and will uphold you now and in the future. I am sorry I did not see this before Saturday night. You will be in my prayers.
