JoAnn B. Stokes of Gainesville, Florida. Passed away at Haven Hospice on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the age of 91. JoAnn was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Thomas Eldridge & Ruth Nanette (Lewis) Beck. She moved to Gainesville in 1933 from Miami, FL, was a retired homemaker and she was a strong proud woman who possessed an amazing amount of strength and an even greater amount of strength and love for her faith. She dedicated her life to God and to her family at North Central Baptist Church. She will be missed dearly by her family, her family at North Central Baptist Church, and also by her friends at Pine Grove community. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Edward Stokes, sons; James Edward Stokes, Steven Stokes, Thomas Lee Stokes, and her daughter, Ruth Lynn Stokes. Joann is lovingly survived by her grandsons; Jon Stokes, Steven Stokes, Ryan Stokes, Evan Stokes, Justin Stokes and by granddaughter, Amy Stokes. Joann is also survived by her brother, Thomas Edward Beck of Mansfield, LA, 2 daughters-in-law; Sandy Stokes and Judy Stokes. Joann’s family and friends will gather at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 10-11AM. The Funeral Service will be held at the chapel at 11am with Pastor Calvin Carr of the North Central Baptist Church officiating. Committal service and burial will follow at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park – East Cemetery @ 3700 S.E. Hawthorne Road, Gainesville, FL In lieu of flowers, donations honoring JoAnn may be sent to Haven Hospice and/or North Central Baptist Church.

    JoAnn, you will be truly missed. All our trips to the NC mountains were sure slot of fun. You were a good friend to our family for many years. It was such a pleasure to grow up with your children. I know you are in heaven and I’ll see you there one day. You will always have a love in my heart. You. were such a good friend to my mom.
