John Joseph Kampsnider was born on July 22, 1938 in Great Falls, Montana to parents, Joseph Adam and Mildred (Lashway) Kampsnider. He died on April 11, 2022 at his home in Gainesville, Florida.
He is survived by his three children, Katherine Cooper of Concord, California, Eric Kampsnider of Charleston, West Virginia and Kristina (Eric) Moffitt of Spencer, Tennessee. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara, and also his son, James Kampsnider
. He served in the United States Navy and later earned degrees from San Francisco State University, and the University of Utah. He was on the faculty of Florida International University and Marshall University in West Virginia.
He served on the West Virginia Board of Examiners of Psychologists. As a young man in Great Falls, he saved another child’s life in a swimming pool.
He was a valued marriage and family counsellor for many years with a private practice in Ripley, West Virginia and he lived in a home he built in Harmony, West Virginia. He was a skillful woodworker.
As he wished,
he was cremated. Memorial services will be planned at a later date.
