In Loving Memory of

Jonathan Alan Griggs

 -

Jonathan Alan Griggs joined his Savior on Monday, August 24, 2020 in Tallahassee, Florida after a long fight with COVID-19. He was 48. Jonathan was born in Dothan, Alabama on April 20, 1972. He began his college career at Chipola Junior College, and after several stops in between, graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He married the love of his life, Shelly, on August 9, 1997. He began his professional career at MWI in Deerfield Beach, Fl and continued his engineering career at Sensus in Orlando, Fl. However, Jonathan always felt led into career ministry. In 2010, Jonathan and Shelly answered “yes” to the call into full time ministry. They began their career with the International Mission Board, and they served together faithfully in Hong Kong for 10 years. Jonathan had a passion for evangelism, discipleship and worshipping Jesus through music. He loved and served those around him with selflessness and diligence. He was a faithful and loving husband and loved his family so well. Jonathan is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Shelly, and their three daughters Adrienne (Kenny) Simms, Lydia Griggs and Marisa Griggs and two granddaughters Avery Simms and Amelia Simms. Jonathan is also survived by his sister, Amy (William) Griffin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Griggs. A celebration of life service will be held at North Central Baptist Church in Gainesville, Fl on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 with a visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Given the times
seating is very limited. The service will be streamed both on Facebook and on North Central’s YouTube Channel. Whether you choose to join us in person or online, please feel free to participate by sending memories and photos to [email protected] to be published in a keepsake book for the family. The service can be viewed via the following platforms either live or at your convenience:  https://m.facebook.com/gatorchurch/  or  https://www.youtube.com/c/NorthCentralBaptistChurch.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in memory of Jonathan Griggs at imb.org/giving.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

Jonathan Griggs was the kind of man as teenager, that I still strive to be in my fifties. He was kind, caring, and funny. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
