Judith D. Thompson, 78, went to her Heavenly home on November 21, 2022.
Judy was the daughter of Charley and Cletia Davis, she grew up in Daytona Beach,
Florida, where she graduated from Mainland High School (1964) and eventually
relocating in 1973 to Gainesville, Florida.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica
Lynn Walker and two brothers, Jimmie Lee Davis and Donald M. Davis, both of Volusia
County.
Judy was retired from the Alachua County Public Schools where she worked in the 70’s
and 80’s in several different capacities at Idylwild Elementary School.
Judy is survived by her husband of 38 years, James T. Thompson “Tully” and her two
daughters, Sherri Bowen (Clarence “Lennie”) and Melissa Moss, both of Bullock, North
Carolina, and two stepchildren James F. Thompson “Floyd” (Vivian) and Zina S.
Thompson, both of Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by a sister, Carol A. Crider
(Nelson) of DeLand, Florida, A sister in-law; Dottie Davis of Louisville, Kentucky, and a special family friend, Fran Skinner of Daytona Beach,
Florida.
“Grammie”, as she was affectionately called, is survived by her extremely adored
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Ashley, Haley (Jesse), Jennifer, Kenneth “K.C.”, Jacob (Danielle),
Amanda, Crystal (Kurt), Walker, Kellie (Chris), Candace (Josh) and Patty.
Great Grandchildren: Aidan, Samantha, Cora, Faith Ann, Emily, Layla, Joseph, Lennox,
Leila, Apollo and Mariah.
Visitation and service will be held at Gainesville Baptist Church, 3570 N.W. 16 th Blvd,
Gainesville, Florida, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10 am (visitation) and 11 am
(service).
Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23 rd
Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32609.

The loss of a mother is such a great loss that can’t be filled by others. My heart is so sad. Sherri and Missi your mother was the sweetest woman in the world. She had the most beautiful blue eyes, and a very loving heart. .God will keep her in peace . My condolences and prayers to the family.

I am so sorry. Judy was deeply loved and of course I am sure she is reveling with her family that has gone on before her.
